Our Motivation

A group of women gathered in the wake of the 2016 presidential election, shocked and saddened that so many of our fellow citizens had voted for the forces of misogyny, racism, xenophobia, and social and economic warfare. They decided to turn their sense of loss into productive action – and BWU was born.

We come together on the 8th of every month, to mark the anniversary of the 2016 election by educating ourselves on issues of current importance to women in Baltimore and planning future action. Through this ongoing work, we are building continuous opportunities for action that is focused on creating the change we want to see in Baltimore, and beyond.
